ColdSep
Icing prevention & snow removal
ColdSep is a next generation product- concept providing the ultimate level of operational protection against the undesirable phenomenon of ice plugging and the ingress of snow during winter months.
In geographical locations with cold climates and under unfavourable weather conditions ice plugging in air intakes and snow ingress has often caused the destruction of filters and the loss of fresh air intake.
Air intake plugged with ice
The ColdSep product line starts with our high performance liquid separation technology and through special heat tracing we can provide up to 800 watts/ft.2 of heat to melt collected snow and ice.

One critical area is for gas turbine intakes. Gas turbines can fail their power output due to a full decrease of incoming mass flow of air. Intakes usually get plugged up with ice at high levels of relative humidity and temperatures around zero (hoar frost) or through snow ingestion and plugging of filters.
The effect is especially even worse in regions with a regular presence of foggy weather conditions. Since the plug reduces the mass flow through the turbine, the power output is likely to stall. Once the growth of ice has started, the stall condition comes within less than 1h.
ENSEPATEC can build to suit any air intake to provide maximum protection against rain, snow and icing to provide year round protection of your ambient air intakes.
All of our systems are design to meet your local weather conditions likely encountered as well as built to suit your existing air houses. ColdSep can be designed with the necessary controls to maximize performance and minimize power consumption.
